Out of the Office

Jun 27, 2011 | Adventures & Travel

When I worked in an office in the real world, we had OOF. The Out Of Office Notice. So this week I am officially OOF—off to the Romance Writer’s of America National Conference. Publisher’s meetings, agent lunch, all kinds of adventures, laughs and hijinks.

Just what you would expect when you put 2000 romance writers under one roof.

But I came with an accessory this year, my oldest son. So if anything, he is keeping me out of trouble—and out touring the city and keeping him fed—which seems to be all a tweener boy wants to do—well, that and video games.

Good news—conference is always a bonanza of free books, and the kid packed light, so I have slated the empty space in his suitcase for a ton of books to giveaway in the coming weeks! Thought you would get a kick out of that.

No contest this week, but next week—watch out . . .

CONTEST WINNER

I wanted to pop in real quick and say a quick congrats to Jennie G, commentor #11, who is last week’s winner. Jennie, email me via my Contact page and let me know your address before next Monday.

    The conference sounds so exciting!

The great thing about NYC is that there is plenty to do. I don’t know if your son would like this place but Jekyll and Hyde’s (http://www.jekyllandhydeclub.com/home.htm) is a theme restaurant located in Manhattan. I went there many years ago with my sister who was a teen at the time. It was a place she liked to go to. All I remember was there was a line to get into the place. The food I can’t recall but there should be recent reviews on the restaurant.

I wanted to add an additional note. The reviews for the restaurant are mixed and some people say it is geared for young children.
