Come on, let's all get happy!

Jun 18, 2007 | TV, Movies, & Good Reads

My friend Christina had this tag on her blog for a song that always makes us happy whenever we hear it. And because happiness should always be shared, I tag anyone else who wants to play!

These are the rules:

1. Post about the one song that makes your heart sing, and uplifts your spirit every time you hear it. If you can provide a link to lyrics and/or audio that would be fabulous. But, it’s not essential, so don’t worry about it if you can’t.

2. Include a track back to this post.

So what is my song? I Can See Clearly Now sung by Jimmy Cliff.

I suppose living all my life in Seattle has made me a bit of a connoisseur of rain, so when it does give way to sun and if you are lucky, a rainbow, it always make me smile. Any time I hear this song, I just want to get up, dance and celebrate. It fills my heart and makes whatever is making me cranky go away. We should all have songs like this, a personal anthem that gives you a lift. Here is mine:

I Can See Clearly Now by Jimmy Cliff
I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day

Oh yes, I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been praying for
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day

Look all around, there’s nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, there’s nothing but blue skies

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Here’s the rainbow I’ve been praying for
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day
It’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day
Real, real, real, real bright, bright sunshinin’ day
Yeah, hey, it’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin’ day

Now what is yours? Tag someone and make them share as well.

That is a cute song, but every since watching Antz, that’s the only thing I see when I hear that song…those ants lol.

  2. Elizabeth

Well then I stand warned. Never watch Antz. Thanks, Haven!!!

  3. Christina Arbini

That’s a great song, too, Elizabeth! I always have to sing along to it. 🙂 Can’t wait for Dallas!!

    Honestly? Baby Got Back…

    Well, I have four songs….

~ I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch) by the Four Tops
~ Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison
~ Old Time Rock & Roll by Bob Seger
~ Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie and the Blowfish

Each one of these songs puts me in a good mood and makes me want to dance (not that I’m a good dancer or anything-lol)! 🙂

Janelle– I love that song! Too much fun! And Andrea, Brown Eyed Girl, very good choice.

There are tons, but two that come to mind are Red Red Wine, and Summer of 69. Both of these have that feel good quality for me.

  8. Janelle

Also… the Harry Potter music! I can’t wait for the new book/movie, so whenever I hear it I feel that giddy burst of excitement because I am a NERD.

I thought about this for a long time; you wouldn’t think it would be a difficult question, but it is. There are so many songs that get me goin’ in all kinds of styles from The Lion Sleeps Tonight (I love to howl with that one until my teenager, in tears, begs me to STOP!-even more fun when he has friends over) to the aria from Pearl Fishers (no idea what they are singing about, but it’s transporting!).

When I get a rejection letter, I need to listen to “I Will Survive,” because it makes me feel like I am tougher than I am.

Honestly, with my 2 youngest girls and thanks to Disney, I’m ashamed to say I’ve got all the Hannah Montana and High School Musical songs running in my head…”Getcha…getcha head in the game!”…..Lawd, I need help. LOL
