This week, let’s take a lunch break with Mad About the Major, my recent novella addition to the Bachelor Chronicles. A reader recently wrote a review and called it “Pure whimsy.” Two words that made me smile. That was exactly what I was striving for—a fun fast read that was a sly wink at the wonderful Audrey Hepburn movie, Roman Holiday.
I thought Birdie deserved a day off from being the Duke of Parkerton’s daughter. Now you can take a quick escape with the madcap Arabella “Birdie” Tremont in this excerpt.
Continuing my lunch theme contest questions: If you could have lunch anywhere in the world, where would you be reading the excerpt from Mad About the Major?
Post your answer below and you are entered in the drawing for a lunch bag prize pack. A winner will be posted in next Tuesday’s Lunch Break post.
Last week’s winner: Anita H (who, BTW, likes dim sum for lunch. YUM!
I’d be in Seattle enjoying crab legs and Clam chowder! I love their seafood up there!
As long as it is Dungeness, I’m joining you.
In Paris
Eating fried chicken, mashed potatoes and drinking sweet tea on the porch of a log cabin in the mountains of West Virginia.
In Athens at the Dyonsius restaurant which faces across the hill from the Parthenon. What a view.
Since summer has finally come to Michigan, I think I would take my book out onto the 300 ft long porch of The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. Sitting in one of their white rocking chairs and a cool drink on the table at my elbow. Every once in a while looking up to look at the view of the green lawn in from of the hotel and Lake Huron beyond framed with pots and pots of red geraniums and red, white and blue bunting. A place everyone should visit at some point in their lives.
Anyplace that’s on the beach with a yummy cocktail in my other hand!
Right where I am in NYC which is a melting pot of different culture and cuisine. From indian to Thai to caribbean to chinese. Everything is right here. A food lover’s delight
Hong Kong!
By the water at the Granville Island Public Market, watching the boats and aqua-taxis. The air there is so clean, and pretty much any way you turn there’s something beautiful to look at.
I haven’t been back to Vancouver in a good while, unfortunately. Maybe this year. 🙂
I love Granville Island. Great food and a fun place to visit.
Hershey pa
In a nice little coffee shop at the West End of London
London
I would have lunch in Scotland in a field with wildflowers all around and hot scots men serving me in just kilts lol.
I’d be sitting at the pool in Key West.
St. Augustine, Florida. In the old part of town there is an Irish pub that has amazing food. I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant.
curled up in some nice comfy spot, in the shade on a sunny but breezy day with some tasty finger food that I could enjoy without distracting from (or messing) my book while reading (exactly where wouldn’t matter so much since I’d be lost in the book anyway) 🙂
I would love to be reading it on the shore of Lake Geneva in Switzerland!
Picnic in my neighborhood park with my kindle. Some wine, cheese and bread too! Any place is a great place to be as long as I can read my book in peace.
I’ll be having my lunch of Bangers and Mash in London! 🙂
