Five Things about Robyn DeHart

I was struck with a huge case of cover envy the other day when I saw Robyn DeHart’s e-novella release, Her Gentleman Thief. It is just stunning and sexy and all about the romance, which I adore in a cover.

So I asked Robyn, who I met several years ago, to drop by because: a) I like her; b) she writes great books; and c) I knew I shouldn’t be the only gaping in envy at this cover. Or alone in reading the story. So with my usual flourish and a wave, Five Things about Robyn DeHart:

1) Favorite … Read more »

Summer Book List

I may lose my knitting mojo during the summer, but for some reason, I crank through the reading pile. Coincidence? I think not.

But this summer I’ve got a dilemma. I am in the process of finishing up a book which means . . . I tend to avoid reading historical romances for a bit. I just like to keep my head focused on my story and not have someone else’s words invading the process. So I am diving into my stash and reading all over the place. Here is what is on my list or currently being devoured:

Five Things About Lavinia Kent

I am fascinated by all the authors who are writing e-reads, like Lavinia Kent, who is releasing The Real Duchesses of London novellas, so I asked her to drop by and share five things about herself you and I might not know. That and I liked her book trailer. So without further ado, Five Things About Lavinia Kent:

1) Favorite dessert
: Really good Key Lime Pie.

2) Most played song on my iPod

: It varies enough that I can’t answer.

3) Secret passion (hobby, collections, sport, thrill seeking): Reality TV. I love it, particularly Bravo’s Real Housewives. It … Read more »

Five Things about Lorraine Heath

I met Lorraine Heath years ago in Denver on a bus trip to a booksigning. I found her to be one of the nicest people I had ever met. She is also one of the smartest and savviest writers I’ve ever met as well. While shy and reserved in person, once you get to know her, she’s definitely someone you want to know and more importantly, read.

So without further ado, here are five things about Lorraine Heath.

1) Favorite indulgence: Massages. My favorite kind is the 4-hand where two massage therapists work their wonderful magic.

2) The last book Read more »

Five Things About Toni Blake

This week’s Five Things features Toni Blake, who has written all sorts of wonderful contemporary stories, is always a hoot to hang out with and was willing to subject herself to the ruthless screening process that makes up the Five Things review. So without further ado, Five Things About Toni Blake.

Favorite indulgence: TV, plain and simple. My name is Toni and I’m a TV-aholic. People come down on TV-watching like it’s a horrible thing, but I disagree. So much of what’s on TV is very well done – comedies make me laugh, dramas make me think and feel. As … Read more »

By the Way…

While at RT, I picked up a lovely award for Mad About the Duke. The 2010 Reviewer’s Choice Award for Best Love & Laughter Historical. I tried to tell a joke as I accepted the award but it sort of fell flat. Way to go for the funny writer. Let me tell you, humor is a lot easier to write than execute before a live audience.

But I have to credit the Duke of Parkerton for being the real comic genius of this story. He arrived in This Rake of Mine, all stiff and proper and ducal, and … Read more »

I Hate Excerpts

Okay, I make no bones about this. I hate excerpts, sneak peeks, previews, look aheads, whatever you want to call them. I don’t like them. I want to be surprised, amused, delighted as I turn the page of a book, watch a movie, check in on All My Children or lately, One Life to Live. I don’t want to know what day Angie’s baby is going to be born. I want to tune in and be part of the story, then and there. No Cassandras allowed in my life. I don’t want to know.

Sadly, I have had to come … Read more »

Changes

They are a coming. In the next few months my website will be getting some upgrades and new features. Not giving away anything just yet, but just wanted to make sure you had a bit of a heads up. It’s been sort of exciting to go through my current site and look at it from a redecorating stand point. I love my site, but we all need something new every once in a while, don’t we?

One thing I can show you is that I’ve cleaned up my Blog Categories over there on the right–added some new, gathered together a … Read more »

Merry Christmas!

Thank you one and all for the wonderful year you have shared with me. From your posts here on this blog, to your friendship on Facebook, to your kind emails that arrive in my inbox like little presents, I find daily reminders about why I love being an author–the readers who share my joy in happy endings, a bit of comedy and a dash of adventure. I am constantly amazed that you care so deeply about these characters I’ve created (yes, I am talking about you die-hard Marlowe fans!) and how much they live through not only through my … Read more »

Hey, Jason

One of the occupational hazards of being a romance author is email from men you don’t know. And not the usual strangers pushing prescription drugs and things to make my root grow like wood, but men who want to send you pictures of themselves, specifically male models. Yes, there it is, one of the perks of being a romance author: young, half dressed men send you their pictures just for you to privately oogle and enjoy, er review, purely on a professional level, of course.

But I realized I was being selfish, keeping these emails to myself, that and … Read more »
