With it being Spring Break in lots of places–and in the coming weeks, I decided a little Spring Madness was in order. So Brazen Angel is now up on Nook and Kindle for the incredible price of .99! Now this isn’t going to last forever. Probably until I come to my senses, so if you’ve wanted to try out the Brazen series, here is your chance.
And because, quite frankly, it is sunny here in Seattle, I am going to leap outside and frolic in the sunshine a bit, I’m keeping this short instead of droning on like I usually … Read more »

Several years ago I was asked to be part of a Regency anthology — could I write a story that was under 10,000 words? Sure, I said, without thinking much about it. 10,000 words, eh? That would be simple.
Thus said the woman who always writes long.
Writing a full love story, in 10,000 words or less, is not easy. In fact, it is a true challenge to an author used to having the roomy wide open spaces of 90,000+ words to introduce characters, establish conflict, introduce a plot that will entice readers to follow the hero and heroine along … Read more »

“It’s a Brazen cover.” You don’t know how many times in my career I have heard another writer describe their cover, or someone else’s as “a Brazen cover.” The look is now iconic, but in 1996, the cover for Brazen Angel was a brand new take on covers–the tousled sheets, the tangled couple, the sexy pose. John DeSalvo in all his glory.
Oh, those had all been done, but not put together as it was for Brazen Angel. When I was shown an early version of the cover, my jaw dropped. The eye popping color, naked John DeSalvo. Have … Read more »

My husband asked me last week what I liked best about having my Brazen books back out. And the answer was immediate and easy: Because it gives me the chance to tell the story how my first book came to be published. It actually gives me a chance to tell the world what a thoughtful, wonderful man I married.
If you’ve never heard me tell the story and you want a good reason to get a little weepy and romantic on a Monday, there you need to read My Favorite Hero. Then once you’ve read the story, come back … Read more »

I have a confession to make. I put inside jokes in all my books. I can’t help myself. They amuse me. I am writing along and I put them in and then I spend a few minutes doing the “Do I? or Don’t I?” back and forth.
And they usually always end up in the final book. I realized I have always done this as I was rereading and cleaning up my first three books ( Brazen Angel, Brazen Heiress and Brazen Temptress) for their digital re-release. I was reading Brazen Angel and came to the following lines, … Read more »

Whipped down to Los Angeles last week for a whirlwind Reader’s Tea at the Huntington Beach Library. No one ever has to prod me very hard to fly down to Southern California–I really love it down there. Blue skies, palm trees, blue skies. Mostly the sunshine makes me smile–as it has been in short supply around Seattle lately.
I got to my hotel rather late, but when I woke up in the morning, I opened my curtains to find a Starbucks right across the parking lot. Hurrah. Sunshine and a latte. What could be better?
Well, as it turned out, … Read more »

Well, get her book done. Right now I am in the home stretch of finishing a book and there is chorus going round the house right now is “When my book is done–“. I don’t think I can compose the strident tone or the aggravated, please don’t bother me AGAIN notes that come with along with that statement, but they are not the only ones who are being put off as I log more hours than I care to count in front of my computer.
Hey, boys, I’ve been putting off all kinds of things that I want to get … Read more »

I am going to make this announcement short and sweet, because I am in the home stretch of finishing up Along Came a Duke and don’t want to dally around the issue. So here it is:
Last week’s blog winner is: PhyllisC, commenter #29, who also tweeted as MamaCrab01.
(NOTE: There seems to be some confusion about this blog–this is not a contest, just the announcement of last week’s winner, which was Phyllis, who has already contacted me and will get this box of books. There is no current blog contest.)
Thanks everyone for playing along and when I get … Read more »

As I wrote last Saturday, I made a plea to my fans over on Facebook that the well had gone dry on what to talk about over here on my blog, and they in turn offered up a bucket load of questions. Here is what I have plucked out today from this treasure quest of “I want to knows.”
Today’s questions are courtesy of: Erica Lynn Thrasher and Janelle Wilbanks.
Erica asked:
Do you find that you have time for social life when a deadline is approaching?
A social life? What exactly is that? To be honest, I’ve taken … Read more »

…And I am going to answer them. You may, or may not know, but I asked my wonderful and enthusiastic Facebook friends if they had a question or questions for me, what would they be? Bless their hearts, they flooded me with a tide of questions for me to answer on my blog.
Quite frankly, I was sitting down to blog and getting a bit stumped. It could be that I am nearing my deadline, so I am just a bit focused, ahem, elsewhere. Happily, these questions have certainly refreshed the blog well, and I will probably use them … Read more »
