My Conference Excess is Your Gain

(Please note that this contest ended on August 25th.Β  But please visit my contest page to win other fun prizes!)

When you go to the RWA conference there is a ton of free stuff to pick up. Everywhere. Books, bookmarks, pens, pencils, publisher’s tchotchkes, and more books. This year I exercised due restraint, mostly because I knew the DH would be around when I was packing up and I’d have to hear the complaints of “why are you bringing that stuff home?” Okay, he’d probably call it all junk, but he’s a man and just doesn’t get it.

But quite honestly, I just don’t have the room for more books and goodies, so my over-stuffed, downsized office makes for a good blog contest. So here it is, the Conference Goodie Giveaway, with these very simple rules:

1) Who’s going to win? Some lucky, random commenter on my blog between August 1st and before noon PDT on August 25th. All you have to do is leave a comment. Comment every day if you like (well, at least try to say something relevant, but if you want to start an entire discussion, that’s cool too!). Want an extra entry? Reference my blog in your blog or on your favorite message board and track back to this blog entry and you get a double entry. Basically, tell all your friends.

2) So what’s in the box? Well, a bunch of books that I got at conference, (including an autographed copy of Love Letters from a Duke) some bookmarks I snuck into the suitcase, bookmarks for Tempted by the Night, some Elizabeth Boyle pens, Avon Fortune Cookies, a lipstick USB drive, and since there was a little space in the box, I tossed in

a hand knit clutch that I made a few months back and thought I would take to conference. I forgot to take it, so I thought someone else might like it, and they might like a little purse for all the conference essentials (pens, room key, coffee money.)

So there it is. Easy, cheesy. Comment, be the lucky number and win. And if you don’t win, don’t worry. On August 26th there is a great consolation prize. Tempted by the Night comes out at a bookstore near you. You can weep all over your copy.

Now that’s a very cool stash there! πŸ™‚ And yeah, guys just don’t get it. . . unless there was some sort of similar idea of conferences for mostly guys. I guess if at the comiccon there were pens and bookmarks with Spiderman, it’s not junk. πŸ˜‰ Although I wouldn’t mind a pen with Wonder Woman on it, personally. πŸ™‚

Elizabeth, you’re a knitter, have you read, “The Friday Night Knitting Club”? It’s a fabulous book and as a knitter you’d love it!

Wow Elizabeth.. If I won I could close my eyes and pretend I was there!! I swear that I will make the book signing next year. And yesterday my hubby even said he’ll drive up to DC with me!! I think that man deserves a pen!

He actually does “get” the goodies thing. He has to go to various “conferences” and always brings a box of his companies goodies.. they have the cutest little green frog “stress toys” that are in high demand!! I could be bribed to do a trade πŸ˜‰

Can I just drool over the content. My tongue is touching keyboard at the moment. I hear many author’s about the conventions and one day…I will stroll about such a convention. Puppydog eyes looking all in wonder. A European with a foolish grin on her face when looking at all the authors she wants to say hello to (but I guess you don’t have to be European for that)

    One day….

    Hugs,

That certainly is a great goodie box! Hoping it finds its way to my house! My mom was a knitter too – she used to knit Barbie doll clothes for me and my sister. Some of those outfits had 7 pieces to them. I still have many of the ones we made (unfortunatly my daughter wasn’t into Barbie dolls but perhaps a future granddaughter will).
I loved “Love Letters from a Duke” by the way – thanks.

What a great idea for clearing out some space! And the clutch is lovely. πŸ™‚ Knitting is one of those things I’m determined to learn to do someday; I do crochet a bit, though not at all to the abilities my grandmother had. She did intricate blankets, Barbie clothes, Cabbage Patch and Care Bear dolls, even a four-foot-long Pink Panther for my cousin and myself one year. Each of my kids now has one of the stuffed animals she made for me, and they share the blanket she made before I was born.

I can’t wait for Tempted by Night!! πŸ™‚

    Cheers,
    Rachel.

What a cool contest!! Thanks, Elizabeth!! I’ve only made one knitted thing in my entire life that ever turned out worth a darn. I made a scarf for my daughter one year at Christmas and she says people are always complimenting her on it. πŸ™‚
