What's an Author to do . . .

Well, get her book done. Right now I am in the home stretch of finishing a book and there is chorus going round the house right now is “When my book is done–“. I don’t think I can compose the strident tone or the aggravated, please don’t bother me AGAIN notes that come with along with that statement, but they are not the only ones who are being put off as I log more hours than I care to count in front of my computer.

Hey, boys, I’ve been putting off all kinds of things that I want to get … Read more »

Five Things about Liza Palmer

Cool and hip are the best ways to describe Liza Palmer. And funny. Good gracious, this woman is funny. Depends sort of funny. But most of all, I just love her honesty. It is such a breath of fresh air. Minus the blue cheese.

Without further ado, my friend, Liza Palmer:

1) Most played song on my iPod: At 498 times, The Healing off the Lady in the Water soundtrack. I listened to this back to back to back to back to back when writing A Field Guide to Burying Your Parents. Never has a book called for the … Read more »

Five Things about Elisabeth Naughton

I met Elisabeth Naughton a few years ago at an author dinner that was great fun. She made a comment about someone’s age being “really old.” It happened to be how old I was at the time–much to her embarrassment. I have teased her mercilessly since and in the interest of putting that slight behind us (no, not really, I will tease her as long as my old age and failing memory allows me) I wanted to introduce her to you. Besides, she writes great books.

1) Favorite indulgence: Not sure I can post the answer to this without getting … Read more »

Five Things About Caroline Linden

I think Caroline Linden should change her name to “Caroline Linden–the romance author you should be reading.” Because, quite frankly, you should be reading her. Her books are wonderful and delightful and hard to put down. I had the privilege of reading One Night in London last spring, and have been so bummed ever since that I have to wait so much longer than anyone else to get to read the next one. So if that doesn’t convince you to give her a try, then here are five things that might:

1) The last book you read: Five Red HerringsRead more »

Five Things About Katharine Ashe

I adore Katharine Ashe because she’s the sort of hip, cool chick who writes her own rules. And she is as much a smart aleck as I am–maybe more so. Love that in a person. Hope you get to like her as well! Here are Five Things about Katharine Ashe:

1) Favorite indulgence: Champagne. Admittedly, this may not come as a surprise to many.

2) Favorite dessert: Hands down, Toll House cookies. I tend to eat them for breakfast and snacks too. So… dessert all day long!

EB: See what I mean? Her cookie obsession is legendary and fills her Read more »

Five Things about Delilah Marvelle

It seems truly appropriate that my Brothel blog is followed by Delilah Marvelle. She loves writing about sex and madames and the madcap adventures of Regency rakes. Much more romantic than my Skagway adventures, and great reading to boot.

Delilah is a funny, earnest, wonderful person who loves writing–truly loves telling stories and that is why I admire her.  She worked so hard to get published and hasn’t let up even after she’s published. So if you haven’t tried one of her books, I would suggest you do, especially if you like your heroines adventurous and your heroes seriously wicked.… Read more »

Five Things About Candice Hern

If you haven’t read a Regency romance by the skilled and talented Candice Hern, you are missing out. Not only is Candice a great writer, but her knowledge of the period is exceptional. But best of all, I am thrilled to call her one of my dear friends. Now I hope to extend that privilege to you as well as you discover Five Things About Candice Hern:… Read more »

Five Things About Marcella Burnard

I have known Marcella Burnard for eons. We met when we both worked for a large software company and discovered we both were aspiring writers. We’d get together at lunch and talk writing and dream about the days when we could chuck corporate life and write full time. So fast forward to now and we both have writing careers and years of friendship between us. I was totally thrilled this spring when her first book, Enemy Within, was nominated for the RITA award in two categories: Best First Book and Best Paranormal. Tres Cool! I have to admit, I … Read more »

Five Things about Miranda Neville

This week I would like to introduce you to Miranda Neville, a wonderful historical romance writer and one of the six fabulous authors who have pooled their collective knowledge and talents over at the brand new site The Ballroom Blog. She’s stopped by here at my humble blog to offer her Five Things and show off her wonderful new book–which I am going to tuck into my bag for my upcoming vacation!

1. Favorite indulgence: Leonidas white chocolate truffles and Veuve Cliquot Champagne. Please send me the thin gene so that I can afford to eat the first, and … Read more »

Five Things about Megan Crane~Caitlin Crews

This Thursday brings us the two-fer special via women’s fiction author, Megan Crane, who, when she whips off her trade book exterior, transforms into the wonderful and sexy, Harlequin Presents author, Caitlin Crews. I so want a secret identity. Will work on that while you get to learn Five Things about Megan Crane/Caitlin Crews:

1) Favorite indulgence: Anything and everything chocolate. The darkest and most sinful chocolate, please. From modest chocolate bars you can buy in the supermarket to over-the-top truffle creations or molten chocolate desserts in restaurants. I love it all!

2) The last book you read: I read … Read more »
