How Would You Answer This?

So I’ve got a brand new round of Five Things in motion–lots of new authors dropping by on Thursdays to spill five things you might not know about them. I came up with the questions after I polled you all a while back and asked you: what questions would you ask future authors. You can find that post here.

And thus was born a brand spanking new list of questions that I send authors and ask them to answer five of them, their choice. What are the questions that I picked up from your comments and now ask them to choose from?

  • Did you have a nickname growing up?
  • Where is the most beautiful/romantic place youโ€™ve ever been?
  • Do you celebrate when you finish a book and what you do?
  • What new authors have you recently added to your TBR pile?
  • If you could go on a date with any superhero, who would you choose and why?
  • What blogs do you visit?
  • If you were not writing, what job would you have?
  • Most embarrassing song on your iPod.
  • If you were going to an island for a long time, name 5 things you would bring.
  • Print or ebook?

You all came up with some awesome questions. And I am not even done using them. Have a list of about 30 from your posts and will cycle them through over the next year.

So to say thanks and this being Monday, let’s make things fun. Up for grabs? One lucky poster will win a box of books–including an autographed book from Julia Quinn!– and lots of fun goodies.

To enter:

1) Leave a comment below and answer one or up to five of these questions.

and/or

2) Tweet the following: @ElizBoyle hopes one of you can take home this box of books. http://elizabethboyle.com/blog/?p=1660

Do both and you are entered twice! Iโ€™ll give you all until midnight, PT, Saturday, November 12th to get your entries in.

Make sure to check back here Monday November 14th to find out if you won. You’ll have a week to claim your prize.

Last weeks winner? Sara M, aka commenter #35, you have until November 14th to contact me with your name and address. Otherwise, your prize will go back into the prize closet.

    Hi Liz…
    Print or eBook?
Print! would never risk a Kindle on a sunlounger by the pool!

Do you celebrate when you finish a book and what you do…
Most certainly do… usually get on the phone to BFF to rave about the characters/ atmosphere/ story line
Then go on line to check and see if there are any more books by the same author with the same characters- The old- What happened next after- …and they lived hapily ever after chapter!

Most embarrassing song on your iPod: the “I am a Gummy Bear” song. I got it for fun and I’m sad to say I can’t stop chair dancing when I hear it.

    Yay, new questions! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Print or ebook?

I like to download ebooks for a quick read, but I always prefer print. There’s just something holding a book in your hand and seeing it there on your bookshelf.

    2. If you could go on a date with any superhero, who would you choose and why?

I’m going to choose an antihero because he’s my favorite comic character: Jason Todd AKA Red Hood. Why? Because despite his massive issues (hello, Daddy Batman screwed him up) he’s a good man who is trying to do good work.

    3. Do you celebrate when you finish a book and what you do?

I make a favorite meal and dessert and then bask in the fact that I have 2-4 weeks to walk away and take my mind completely off of it before I go back and start edits. No matter if that’s the one that might snag me an agent, no one can take away the fact that I finished writing a novel. It’s quite an accomplishment.

    November 7th, 2011 at 7:49 am · Link

Did you have a nickname growing up?
I had three main nicknames (my family is big on nicknames). Kris was what I was called by most people. My mom and all her friends called me Krissie. My dad and all his friends called me Teenie. My grandmother started that. She called me TissieTeenie until the day she died. ๐Ÿ˜€

Where is the most beautiful/romantic place youโ€™ve ever been?
Cartajena, Spain. It is absolutely beautiful, but not in your typical romantic way. I just love the architecture, and there is this sidewalk along the harbor that is lined with trees and has arches, along with wide steps that lead down to the harbor. One day, I want to go have my vows renewed there.

If you could go on a date with any superhero, who would you choose and why? I love Emmy Neal’s answer! But he’s such a jerk. I think I’d probably choose Batman. I like a bit of a bad boy, but he’s semi-nice, too.

    What blogs do you visit?
Mostly homeschooling/parenting blogs. I love Design Mom.

Most embarrassing song on your iPod.
I think it would depend on the audience. I have several Kid Rock songs that would embarrass most of my family, but I probably wouldn’t be embarrassed. I listen to the songs I like, so I’m not really embarrassed by them.

    Print or ebook?

I much prefer print, but I love the instantaneousness of an ebook. It does make life easier when I’m needing something new to read. On the other hand, I have enough print books that I can sometimes re-read them, without remembering the plot.

    1. Jellybean. My dad called me that. Don’t tell anyone.
    2. I would have to say the most beautiful to me, would be at CMA Fest in Nashville, with 75,000 screaming country music fans listening to some of my favs. Like Keith Urban, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, and Zac Brown Band.
    3. I have added a few good authors like Susan Donovan and Cherry Adair.
    4. I would choose the new Superman, because it is Henry Cavil. He is so gorgeous. Loved him in The Tudors.
    5. Going to an island-Top 5. My nook, endless supply of milk & cereal-could live on that, a few of my favorite paperbacks, my kids-could not live without them, and my dog-Brownie(she is a mastiff and would protect us.
    6. Ebook or Book. I like both. I have some books in both forms, but like both. Some authors I still have to have their book, because I collect certain authors.
Thanks for the chance to win.

Elizabeth, I have always thought I would prefer paperback/printed books to e-books, but have finally decided to purchase an e-reader. I will be traveling a long distance this holiday season and decided that listening to a book by a favorite author on my e-reader would make the time go by so much faster. In fact, I’m placing my order today and hope it is delivered before I leave for Thanksgiving.

Hm…. I think I still prefer print to ebooks. Yes, it’s nice to bring along a Kindle instead of a suitcase-ful of books, what with checked in baggage fees and all. However, if I am not traveling, then there’s nothing like the feel of a print book. Also, a print book may guilt me into reading it – something an ebook can never do since it won’t be “looking” at me pleadingly/accusingly from my book shelf.

Nickname: I have 2. My family calls me Chefy and my dad calls me Neca ๐Ÿ˜›

New authors: not many actually, I always go to the ones I already love. They are so many that I keep buying book after book that I’m always busy reading, BUT surprisingly I did add new ones and that is Lisa Jackson, Nancy Bush, and Jennifer Blake.

Superhero: I have to go with Green Arrow ๐Ÿ˜‰ and that’s only because I used to like him in Smallville ๐Ÿ˜›

Most embarrassing song: I have to say that I have both the beginning and ending songs of an Anime I used to watch as a child (Ranma 1/2) on my ipod and its in Japanese and the person singing it has this childlike voice :”>

Five things I would take to an island: that is definitely my fiance (if I’m going, he’s going lol) but that’s actually cause he loves to talk and always keeps me entertained, I would take our dog Atzi so our whole soon to be little family can enjoy the experience, I would take water cause I’m not a fan of coconuts, I would take a tent just in case it rains and finally sunscreen (mostly for my fiance)

Print or ebook: PRINT all the way, there’s just something about holding the actual book.

    Thank You Elizabeth!!!

Did you have a nickname growing up?
Yes, I had a few. It started with “pigcow” Hahaha, this of course was from my 2 older brothers. I am the only girl among 3 brothers. The older ones liked to pick on me. As I got older and the one that stuck to me was, “Skinny”. These two names seems really different right? Well, when I was younger I was a bit chubby. but now… heheh you get it. I don’t mind the nicknames at all. I have embraced them.

If you were going to an island for a long time, name 5 things you would bring.
    1. Sunblock. (I burn under the sun instead of tan) Lol so this is a MUST!
    2. Candles/Match sticks. For fire and lighting purposes. (does this ct. as 2? if so, #3 can be taken out. =P)
    3 A First aide kit.
    4. A book. (Romance novel of course)
    5. Chapstick. I will probably be irritated if my lips were chappy. Hahaha!

    Print or ebook?
PRINT! No decision needed for this. Its just something about holding a physical book. When I see my books on the shelf, it makes me smile.

Nickname: Cookie… but only let my grandfather and Dad call me that!
Romantic place: Playacar, Mexico in January….warm breezes and dining outside. Awsome!
After I finish a book by a new author, I immediately look for more by that same author! I now have almost 500 on my Kindle…this doesn’t count the ones I’ve archived. And, I’ve only had it a year! : )
Superhero? Not sure if he would be cosidered a superhero but I’ve always been fascinated with Zorro! Very romantic with the sword play. : )
Will always love printed books but I have to say I’ve discovered many more authors with my Kindle. Gotta love the “sample” feature.
On an island? Would take my hubby and my Kindle! Not sure what the other three would be.
